5 New Golden Visa Categories Introduced by UAE to Attract Global Talent

Saturday, May 24, 2025

The United Arab Emirates has added five new categories to its Golden Visa programme as part of ongoing efforts to attract highly skilled professionals.

First launched in 2019, the Golden Visa grants 10-year residency to foreign nationals who support the country’s growth across key sectors. The latest update is part of the UAE’s wider strategy to build a stable and knowledge-driven economy.

For Luxury Yacht Owners

A new visa has been introduced under the Abu Dhabi Golden Quay initiative for private yacht owners. To qualify, individuals must own a yacht that is at least 40 metres in length.

The visa is also available to people involved in the yacht industry, including insurers, manufacturers, executives, and agents. Family members may also be sponsored under this category.

For E-sports and Gaming Professionals

Dubai has launched a 10-year visa for professionals working in e-sports and gaming. The category is part of the Dubai Programme for Gaming 2033.

Applicants must be at least 25 years old and obtain accreditation from Dubai Culture. Abu Dhabi also supports gaming experts through a similar Golden Visa pathway led by its Department of Culture and Tourism.

For Content Creators

Digital content creators now have a dedicated visa option under the creative residency track. This category covers filmmakers and social media influencers and was introduced during the 1 Billion Followers Summit in January.

Managed by Creators HQ, the visa allows individuals to apply online without needing a local sponsor.

For Teachers and Educators

Dubai’s private sector teachers and education professionals are now eligible for the Golden Visa. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority manages the initiative and is open to staff from early childhood centres to universities who have made strong contributions to education. Family sponsorship is allowed under this category..

Ras Al Khaimah has also launched a similar visa supported by the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Knowledge for teachers, principals, and senior school staff. Family sponsorship is allowed under both programmes.
